Online Events

Today we have been getting our online events organised for Real Nappy Week.  We are very excited about these as they are a new venture for us.  The events will allow us to run online nappuccinos so that even more parents can access advice on Real Nappies!

We will be holding 2 online nappuccinos which will go over the benefits of using Real Nappies, the different types and how to use them.  These will be hosted by Bec who has three children of her own and has worked with Real Nappies for ten years.  The event will be a presentation which you will be able to watch on your computer and also listen to.  Ther will be the opportunity for you to ask questions which will get answered at the end of the presentation.  If you can't make the event you can watch/listen to a recorded version whenever suits you.

We are also hosting an expert panel where Bec will be joined by Jo from Bambino Mio.  Jo also has three children and is the New Product Development Manager at Bambino.  This session is intended to answer all your questions and so could be more suitable to you if you are having any trouble with Real Nappies and need a bit of advise and support.

Finally Amy from Bambino Mio will be hosting a presentation and feedback session on Bambino Mio products.  If you are thinking of using Bambino Mio nappies, have questions about them or want to give feedback this is an ideal time to do it.  Amy will present the Bambino Mio products and then will be happy to take questions or repsond to feedback.

We hope that you all enjoy the online events - it gives us a great opportunity to push the idea of Going Real Together and we think that they are going to be a lot of fun!  To find out more about the events visit: http:www.goreal.org.uk/online-events

Worldwide Events

Go Real is truly turning into an international event with events taking place all over the globe.  Just today I have spoke to someone from South Africa, the Czech Republic, Italy and New Zealand!

Our contacts in South Africa have told us some interesting stories about how they are trying to set up nappy laundries in poorer communities where there is a shortage of water and washing facilities, they are running special offers to celebrate Real Nappy Week.  In the Czech Republic they are holding a Real Nappy of the year competition and in New Zealand and Italy there are loads of events going on.

Of course there is plenty happening across the UK aswell including Real Nappy Fashion Shows, second hand sales, nappucinos and awareness fairs.

All of the events are being plotted on our Real Nappy Week map so they are easy to see and all UK events are also being posted on our events calender so you can plan your week.  Don't worry if you can't make an event near you as we are also hosting online events but more on that tomorrow!

Cute in Cloth

Just a quick post to give a nod to what is fast becoming my favourite Real Nappy Week web page: the Cute in Cloth photo community.  To demonstrate just how many parents have opted for Real Nappies we have asked parents to send us photos of their baby, happy in their favourite Real Nappy and we are getting some great snaps!  One of my favourites has to be the little girl in her mummy's shoes!

The photos are great way of showing off the multitudes of different styles out there and they all look so well fitted and comfortable.  I would love to see hundreds of photos uploaded so please forward us yours.  Every photo we receive automatically gets three entries to our Real Nappy Week competition where you can win some fantastic prizes.

I am off on a long weekend now before the madness starts in earnest!  I very much hope that when I come back the Cute in Cloth community will have expanded!

Go Real TV

We have just come out of our meeting and we were so engrossed that we forgot to film any of it!  Luckily though we have been hearing from lots of people who have been filming and so we should have loads of interesting content for Go Real TV during Real Nappy Week.

During the week we will be posting up content from lots of different perspectives so you will be hearing from parents, retailers, health professionals and Local Authorities.  All will be talking about using or promoting Real Nappies, why they are involved and what they think of Real Nappies.

Just to have a practice we have uploaded one that Jon, our Chief Exec, put together with his son.  Jon admits to having great fun making it and it only took half an hour!  We want to see loads more like this so don't be shy and send us your 5 minutes of fame!

You can also watch the moving videos from Shelterbox who we are supporting during the week.  One of the films particularly highlights the need for shelter for mums and babies in the wake of big disasters such as Haiti.

I am particularly looking forward to seeing my nephew star in his own film on Friday about Real Nappies in Japan as my brother lives out there and we also hope to see videos from other parts of the world including New Zealand, Italy and possibly South Africa.

This weekend I shall be making my own video of the Marsh family who used Real Nappies whilst travelling in their camper van!  So for all of you who are not sure about using Real Nappies whilst out and about this might lend you some inspiration.

Go Real TV will continue to be a feature on the Go Real website after Real Nappy Week and we will keep adding videos to show as much information on using them as possible!  Tomorrow we are going to be testing our webinar technology so that we can launch our online nappuccino programme.  Watch this space...

Welcome to Go Real Together

With just 13 days left until Real Nappy Week I thought that I would start blogging to tell you all how things progress in the final build up to the event.  We are really excited about this years event as it promises to be bigger and better than ever!

The theme this year is Go Real Together.  There are many parents out there already using Real Nappies and many more who are thinking about giving it a go, so we want to bring you all together!  Support and advice from other parents is always helpful in helping you to make decisions for your own family and we want to make sharing your Real Nappy experiences easy.

Using Real Nappies is no longer something that is unusual and we aim to celebrate their growing popularity by demonstrating just how active the Real Nappy community is.

There has been a lot of interest in Real Nappy Week from places all around the world and so we will also be getting stories on attitudes to Real Nappies and experiences of using or promoting them from many different countries including New Zealand, Italy and Japan.  Everyday we get contacted from places all over the world and it is really exciting to learn about what kind of things are going on in other countries.

Today I am finishing off all of the Real Nappy Week pages on the website and setting up the program which will enable us to run online nappuccinos and expert panels during the week.  Tomorrow we have our final Real Nappy Week meeting with the whole team, a chance to iron out all those last minute details and to have a collective panic!!  We may even try and film part of it for Go Real TV.
